Born to be Special

Born to be Special came into our rescue program on August 11, 2017. Born to be Special came into our rescue program from an Oklahoma Kill Pen after being saved by the Save our Standardbreds from Slaughter (SOSS) group. Born to be Special was registered in the Full Circle Program. Full Circle is an owner enrolled program that alerts the owner when the horse is in trouble, such as landing at a kill pen. The Rescue Network contacted the original owner and that owner stated they wanted to get their horse back, but since they was located in another state, needed a lay over. We was contacted to help. Born to be Special had a leg injury that required treatment and she needed a safe place until the owner could get to Oklahoma. No good deed goes unpunished, right? We agreed to help as long as the owner paid the veterinary care. We get the mare back to our barn, called the vet out to treat the injury and then contacted the owner, who then decided he didn't want the mare back and left us holding the vet bill. Born to be Special is a Beautiful, Bay, Standardbred, Mare. Born to be Special was foaled on April 21, 2001. Born to be Special is a super sweet girl. She came to us with several injuries. She is doing much better and we will fully evaluate her soon for adoption. Born to be Special is broke to drive, and a former harness racing horse. Born to be Special will make someone a wonderful addition to anyone's family. Born to be Special stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer. We will update with additional information soon, as well as, her adoption status. Please consider making a donation to assist towards Born to be Special's Rehabilitation.

Update October 2017 Born to be Special is now seeking her forever, loving home. Born to be Special is a sweet girl and loves attention. She is a former Pacer Harness Horse. She is also broke to ride. We would recommend some tune up time in a round pen or small enclosed area, as we don't know when she was ridden under saddle last. We recently discovered that Born to be Special is missing half of her tongue. Not sure what happened to her, but find it extremely sad. She has a willing to please personality and would make a great addition to anyone's family. Born to be Special has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and hoof maintenance. She stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer. If you are interested in giving this sweet girl the forever, loving home she deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Born to be Special.

Born to be Special has been adopted to a wonderful family in Sulpher, Oklahoma. Born to be Special is going to be extremely well loved and spoiled rotten in her forever, loving home. We are thrilled that this super sweet girl found the forever, loving family she deserves, where she will be showered with love and attention.
